Baking has become really popular recently and a number of my friends post photos on
social media of their cookie or cake creations. I'm quite an analytical and logical
person, so I always expected that I would also find baking easy. After all, everything
you need is provided in the recipe. The recipe includes the list of ingredients and
the exact amounts that you need. It also tells you how long something needs to be
baked for and at what temperature. All of the numbers are provided for you, so
I expected that I would find baking really easy. Surely if you do everything exactly,
nothing can go wrong? I was surprised to discover that baking is really difficult!
There seem to be a number of extra variables which can affect how successful my baking
is. Each time I follow the recipe exactly, something goes wrong. Maybe I stirred the
mixture too many times, or not enough times. Maybe part of my oven is hotter than another
part. Maybe my weighing scales aren't 100% accurate. So far, I've learned that you
shouldn't open the oven door since this can make your cake sink. I feel like this
extra instructions should be included in the recipes to make baking foolproof!
