My most unique and interesting friend is a guy we used to call Croaks. I met
him when I was in university. He was rather lanky and awkward. He had a receding
hairline that revealed a massive forehead with long, thin poker-straight blonde
hair that went half way down his back. We got along straight away because we
both enjoyed nerdy things like computers and science fiction. What makes him
so unique is that he seems to live in his own little world and doesn't mind at
all if people think that he is strange. He mumbles constantly often saying
things that don't really make sense. Most of the time he is just talking to
himself. He's like an absent-minded professor. That being said, he is a genius
and has had a very successful career as a computer programmer. I've known Croaks
for about 30 years and he now lives this amazing life in nature on a tiny island
off the west coast of Canada. Most of his hair is gone, but he's grown a massive
beard that has become his trademark. He lives off the land as much as he can
by growing his own food and collecting rainwater. He even built his entire home
by himself. I learn so much from him each time I see him. He inspires me to be
a better human being.
