Teacher's
review
When I first saw a chindonya troupe I didn't quite know what to
make of it. I had been in Japan for less than a year and I had no
idea what they were doing. I assumed they were so kind of 'buskers'
or 'street performers'. The last thing I imagined was advertising.
I liked the costumes. They reminded me of street mimes you might
see in New York. But I must confess, I didn't like what I heard.
I've always found it ironic that japanese people are known for their
shy and quite nature. Yet when it comes to advertising and elections,
they can't make enough noise. Anyway it's great to see a Japanese
tradition celebrated.
