Teacher's
review
The Olympic Games will arrive in Beijing in less than a year.
It's a little sad to see that most of the news coverage about the
Beijing Olympics is focusing on all the problems. I was in Calgary
for the 1988 Winter Olympics and they were spectacular. The whole
city was energized by all the international attention. Everywhere
you went you could feel the excitement. From this article I get
the feeling the the Beijing Olympics may turn out to be a disaster.
If I was an athlete, I'd be very worried about the air quality.
It's strange to imagine that going to the Olympics could be bad
for your health. As for the politics, I hope China will surprise
the world and show that it is just as concerned about the international
community as it is about economic growth. After all, the Olympic
are suppose to bring the world together, not tear it apart. We'll
see what happens.
