夏は、長い休暇があることから、特別な「夏の思い出」を持っている人も多いと思います。　"My best summer memory"についてショートエッセイを書いてください。　詳細をふくめて、読み手が情景を浮かべられるように工夫してみてください。

The Fishing Contest

 

It was the summer of 1980 and may family went to Pine Lake for our some vacation. Pine Lake is located near Red Deer, Alberts, in Canada. It's a fairly big lake with several cottages and campgrounds around it. We stayed in the campground and my dad happened to know the owner. Of course they had a boat, so we were able to go out on the lake and try water skiing. It was really fun! I also tried fishing for the first time. One day there was a fishing contest for kids and Mr. Reed (the owner) asked me if I wanted to enter it. I loved going out on the boat, so I said,"Sure!" It was a perfect summer day with a clear blue sky and a light breeze. We headed out early in the morning and spent all day fishing. I didn't catch anything, but Mr. Reed caught a lake trout. I can still see the fish flopping around it the boat. It was quite exciting. I also remember touching it, and how slimy it felt. At the end of the day, on the way back to the campground, Mr. Reed said, "I can't enter the contest because I'm sponsoring it, so why don't you just say that you caught the fish?" I was quite nervous about the idea, but Mr. Reed assured me that it would be okay. As it turned out, the fish Mr. Reed caught was the biggest fish of the day so I ended up winning the contest. I was so surprised! I got a little trophy and never told anyone that I didn't actually catch the fish. Although I didn't deserve to win, it's a great memory and I will never forget Mr. Reeds kind gesture.
