In 1987 I was a hardcore Midnight Oil fan. Midnight Oil is a rock band from Australia. While touring Canada, their record 'Diesel and Dust' really took off internationally. They had already booked small venues across Canada, so tickets were hard to come by. My friends and I decided to line up for tickets the night before. We went to the stadium around 11:00 at night. To our surprise, we were the first ones there. In fact, no one else showed up until around 5:00 in the morning. Still, my friends and I had a great time. We sang almost every Midnight Oil song at the top of our lungs to pass the time. We had all lost our voices by the time the ticket center opened. We got our tickets and a few weeks later we were bouncing around in the front row to the songs of our favorite band. The concert was great, but to be honest, my memories of waiting in line for the tickets are far more vivid. We shared a real moment together. To this day, the story often comes up when we get together.
