Although I'm not an American, I have to say the election of Barack Obama was the highlights of 2008. It was really amazing to watch the reaction around the world. It was the American election, but for some reason, the whole world was watching. His unwavering optimism and sense of hope has captured the world's attention. On TV you could see people celebrating his victory all around the world. On the news, I saw people dancing in Kenya, France, Japan, and Canada. In some ways, I think he is not only the first African-American president, but also the first person we can call a 'global leader'.
